Many people in our industry publish books, hard bound, paper back, ebooks and magazines. Want to know a secret: I don’t buy any nor do I subscribe to wedding magazines anymore (shhhh, don’t tell them or they will stop publishing my work!).
For 2012, my only recommendation so far is Sweet Designs by Amy Atlas. I’ve enjoyed her work for quite some time. I dabbled in a candy bar scenario once for a wedding, then I saw one of her setups somewhere and thought, WOW. For any bride, baker or party planner of any type of party, you must take a look at this book. I love it for two main reasons. First – recipes! I love trying out new recipes. Second, the set ups. You just can’t argue with the beauty of an Amy Atlas dessert display.

Here is a tiny sneak peak of the magic she works with desserts:
Last year’s Vera Wang bridal fashion show featured gorgeous black wedding dresses. This year Vera Wang didn’t have one white dress in the collection. These were stunning. I personally love red. It’s is my favorite color for a ball gown, it is on the soles of my shoes and a major factor in my business color.
Which one is your favorite?
Peplum is every where at this week’s bridal market in New York City and I love it! Here are a few images from the past few days shows. We love this look and we’ve seen some detachable peplum!
Mark Zunino for Kleinfeld – detachable peplum for a slightly different look during your wedding day!
Brides, if you are in Austin tomorrow be sure to stop by Julian Gold. A fabulous local jewelry designer is having a trunk show. Claudia Lobao’s jewelry was introduced to me by the very fashionable Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria. If you are a bride who is considering wearing gold tone jewelry you should definitely consider a Claudia Lobao piece.
I personally own these pieces and think they are stunning and perfect for a wedding gown accessory especially if your skin tone has a hint of color. I will personally be wearing these when I get married again (to the same guy). Here is the designer herself modeling my favorite pieces.
This crochet styled necklace and earrings are stunning! I was fortunate to get these when they were available before they sold out.
Here Eva is snapped out and about wearing another pair of Claudia’s earrings.
