Engaged Couples, Brides and socialites: there is a new venue in town.  The Veranda! Formerly the Lodge in Castle Hills. It’s had a nice little facelift along with the owner is the fabulous Chef, Mike Bomberg of Spice of Life Catering.

Their first official wedding is tomorrow with a formal grand opening scheduled for April 4th.

You can find the Veranda at the same great place: 1746 Lockhill Selma, San Antonio, Texas 78213.  If you are interested in scheduled a tour, learning more about renting the venue for your event, you can contact Jessica Silvaggio-Galbreath at the Spice of Life office: 210-366-1220.  Don’t wait too long, they’ve been booking for months now and after the grand opening, I know their dates will fill up quick.

My birthday is this week. I’ve been asking my husband for a pair of dangly silver earrings for the past three years. For my birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s, Anniversary or Mother’s Day. He has totally struck out. So I bought myself a pair the other day and my son made me a pair (he has a new jewelry business).

I love buying jewelry and honestly, I usually don’t like what he picks out, but I wanted to challenge him, but he just flat our refused! I guess after 18 yrs together he has earned the right to say no and tell me to go buy what I want.
I’ve held off buying anything for myself until last week when I attended a Lia Sophia party. It was a little different than those hosted at home parties – it was FUN. The hostess had a nice little program worked up. I like a few pieces and opted to host a party myself. I just moved in my new house 6 months ago and haven’t shown it off to anyone! So please, come! I can’t wait to see you. I will be wearing this bracelet, called the cha cha cha… so perfect for my personality.

In 2005 we were fortunate to break into the destination side of weddings. Our work has taken us to Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Central America, even Dubai! We will start featuring a few of these weddings and locations. Starting with one of my personal favorites which doubles as a wedding destination but more importantly a honeymoon spot!

Cayo Espanto is a small island in Belize, not for the budget conscious but certainly for a couple with a sense of adventure. You won’t see anyone else on your private beach. For the right price you can rent out the whole island.

I could go on and on about all the amenities: chef, snorkleing, private dip pool, the ultimate in privacy, but just go – NOW, to their website.

Brides, if you are in Austin tomorrow be sure to stop by Julian Gold.  A fabulous local jewelry designer is having a trunk show.  Claudia Lobao’s jewelry was introduced to me by the very fashionable Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria.  If you are a bride who is considering wearing gold tone jewelry you should definitely consider a Claudia Lobao piece.

I personally own these pieces and think they are stunning and perfect for a wedding gown accessory especially if your skin tone has a hint of color.  I will personally be wearing these when I get married again (to the same guy).  Here is the designer herself modeling my favorite pieces.

Today I pre-ordered the newest, hottest book about to be released.  It is a must have for event planners and for any bride who desire to have a dessert display during the reception.  Dessert bars transcend many events and if you decide to do it, buy the book so you do it right.

Are you lusting after a pair of Christian Louboutins to wear under your dress but all those around you say the price is insane… no one will see it… and on and on.  I say BOO to the naysayers.  As a woman who loves her shoes (and I have some really fabulous ones) I say go for it. Spend the money.

It’s just money.  And really, don’t you have a special piece of clothing, accessory or shoes that you love and paid too much money for? How do you feel when you wear them?  I have a special shoe, called the Josephine by Christian Louboutin.  They are black and gold.  They make me feel so fabulous and awesome, more so than normal.

On your special day, I swear fabulous shoes give you super powers.  So go for it.

This bride wore two dresses and her outfits were finished out with two awesome pair of shoes.  A studded Louboutin and a blinged out Manolo Blahnik.  They were stunning and frankly, the outfit just didn’t work without the shoes *wink*

I love the way Lee accessorized her wedding day attire. For her reception she added a black sash and a black hair piece to add contrast and drama to her beautiful blond hair.  The illusion of two wedding dresses but really only one.

There is this great little place in San Antonio (4 of them actually) by way of Denver, Colorado where the burgers are yummy. Smashburger® has been in town for awhile and I have to tell you, I love it. Smashburger is one of my new favorite places. My friend, Gigi and I try to make it out there once a week. That says a lot, since everyone knows I am at the local taqueria 2 times a week. YIKES! – Holy expanding waist line.

Smashburger® are delish. Simple. Easy. You gotta go try it if you haven’t already. They were so delish the first time I had the privilege of going, I just had to take Gigi with me for the VIP grand opening of the Bandera location (and then the 151 location later!). She loved it too. We’ve been planning her husband’s 50th birthday party for months and she has to have them. Lucky for us, Tom Ryan, founder of Smashburger® ate lunch with us that day. He told us of a wedding in Colorado and they had the Smashmobile at the reception at the end of the evening. What a fab idea, for the end of a wedding reception or to kick off the after party. We can’t wait for the 50th birthday party to use the smashmobile.
